National Harbor, Maryland The Catering/Conference Services Manager is responsible for finding new clients to hold catered events at MGM National Harbor as well as service the catering and event needs of Group business booked by the Sales Team.
The job will also involve attending industry and networking events, outgoing sales efforts to secure Catering business, and contacting the competitions client base and other activities to help drive the catering revenues to meet and exceed established goals.
POSITION
Summary:
The Catering/Conference Services Manager is responsible for finding new clients to hold catered events at MGM National Harbor as well as service the catering and event needs of Group business booked by the Sales Team.
The job will also involve attending industry and networking events, outgoing sales efforts to secure Catering business, and contacting the competitions client base and other activities to help drive the catering revenues to meet and exceed established goals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Responsible for, but not limited to, securing new business, as well as servicing Group business.
Tasks will include conducting tours of the facility, executing contracts, creating menu proposals, conducting menu tastings, plan decor, create estimates and costs, and handle audio visual needs.
Conduct meetings or calls with the client to fully detail each event and communicate to the operation for execution via means of Amadeus/ BEO's (Banquet Event Orders), Group Resumes, and internal meetings.
Ensure all billing details are secured.
Meet and/or exceed personal and departmental revenue, customer service and other goals set by the company.
Works closely with Sales Managers to ensure guest satisfaction.
Works closely with the banquets, culinary operations, and other departments to ensure client's needs are met and/or exceeded by the coordination of menus and implementation of all group food & beverage events, including preparation and distribution of Banquet Events Orders (BEOs) on each function.
Maintains complete and in-depth files on all future and past catering only groups and private parties as directed by departmental standards.
Practices and observes safety rules and regulations and encourages other to do the same.
Maintains relationships with past clients for future business opportunities.
Document's client communications in Amadeus.
It is the responsibility of the Catering-Conference Services Manager to use Amadeus to keep in touch with clients through phone calls, emails, letters and personal meetings.
Manages and monitors fiscal budget, operations of assigned department(s) and marketing strategies to produce both short term and long-term profitability for MGM National Harbor.
Manages the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company's core service standards and brand attributes.
Provides input into the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new products, services, technology, and processes to ensure MGM National Harbor's competitive position and in anticipation of changing guest needs within the dynamic hospitality and gaming environment.
Attends classes to expand product knowledge and sales efficiencies.
Manages Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company's diversity commitment; adherence to the company's status quo third party representation philosophy; compliance with company policies, legal requirements and collective bargaining agreements.

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Business, Marketing/Sales, or related field, or equivalent work experience At least four (4) years of experience in management At least five (5) years of experience in a busy catering/convention/group environment.
Effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Preferred:
Bilingual, English as the primary or secondary language Previous experience working in a similar resort setting CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Maryland Gaming License Proof of eligibility to work in the United States SECTION 3:
COMPETENCIES & WORKING CONDITIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of catering sales systems such as Amadeus.
Working knowledge and understanding of the collective bargaining agreement (as required).
Knowledge of F&B operations and procedures.
Sound judgment and knowledge of banquet operations.
Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines with particular attention to details.
Able to work under pressure dealing with multiple work assignments and meeting deadlines, and to make decisions and work independently.
Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal effectively with guests, management, employees, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Excellent customer service skills.
Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.
